Negative Headspace

Have you ever wondered why when you think something negative you tend to have negative results and don’t show up as your best self?

Each time I had a flare I would think, “my body has failed me again.”  That thought led to feelings of hopelessness.  On those days I would not take care of myself.  I made poor food choices, didn’t stay hydrated and would be a slug.  In doing those things I proved that I had actually proved that I failed my body.  My chronic pain is a circumstance (and all circumstances are neutral).

My thought “my body had failed me again” led to poor choices and a poor outcome for my day.  Often it resulted in higher pain levels as well.  Why? It is because my thoughts influenced my feelings.

When we hold onto a negative thought we don’t show up as our best self and with chronic pain those things we do or don’t do can actually increase our pain levels.
